WUTZ® is a universal mineral binding agent on the basis of white cement. The novel material, which was originally developed for use in wood-chip concrete, comes without the addition of calcium chloride, which is usual in wood-chip concrete, and is compatible not only with wood chips but also with a variety of other aggregates, such as hay or shredded paper. Depending on the choice of aggregates a more or less weatherproof, breathable concrete results.
You can make not only the classic nest box for the kingfisher, the hedgehog house or a nest box for bats, but any objects you desire can be formed from our material.
For wood-chip concrete the recipe is: 1 volume part WUTZ® to 1 volume part wood chips, or in parts by weight expressed as 3 kg WUTZ® to 1 kg chips. The material is very easy to apply and model by spatula and after complete hardening and drying achieves exceptional durability.
Prepared only with water and alkali resistant glass fibre mat WUTZ® produces a pulp reminiscent of paper mâché. If you process this material as a thin layer, for example by coating it onto a balloon, it hardens into a very strong, stable and fully weatherproof structure of low weight.
Shortly after preparing the material solidifies, which is why it is advisable to always prepare several small portions of WUTZ® and build up the workpiece gradually. After solidification, the still fresh workpiece can easily be processed by scratching, allowing the design of very appealing surfaces.
WUTZ® is white and can be coloured by adding pigments. The recommended maximum amount of colour pigments is 50 g per kg dry matter. Since WUTZ® has a very good water retention, the complete drying of the workpiece may take several weeks.
