MOLLYPUT is a slowly addition-curing kneading silicone, which is excellently suitable for sealing and grouting casting moulds in concrete furniture construction.
The product has been specially developed by us as an alternative to our classic fillet putty to provide even more perfect rounded edges on table tops and precisely rounded transitions from table tops to integrated washbasins with any radius. With MOLLYPUT you have for the first time a material for the waterproof rounding of inner edges in mould making that is really easy and safe to work with.
The two components are mixed in a weight ratio of 1:1. For this purpose an equal quantity of component A and component B is taken (weighed!) and then both parts are kneaded intensively (approx. 45 sec.) until a streak-free, homogeneous mixture is produced, recognisable by a uniform colour. The compound can then be applied for 30 minutes and is cured after 5 hours. If possible, use vinyl gloves for removal and mixing and never latex gloves, as this can prolong the setting time or completely prevent setting. When kneading with bare hands, the setting time may be reduced.
After mixing, the mass is pressed into the edge to be filled with the putty ball tool. With the right method, the work is very simple. Take a quantity the size of a walnut in your left hand and the putty ball in your right, press the putty firmly into the corner of the mould to be filled and then push it forward with the putty ball in one direction. After the edge is filled, moisten the putty ball with a 1:1 mixture of water and dishwashing detergent and smooth it over the resulting throat again for final smoothing. After the silicone has hardened completely, the beads next to the throat are simply removed and the remains of detergent washed out with water and a cloth. In this way you can also create a perfect rounding where three edges converge, as would otherwise not be possible with silicone.
You can use the following table to estimate the required quantity:
Diameter of the putty ball |
Material consumption per meter edge length |
10 mm |
10 g |
20 mm |
35 g |
30 mm |
75 g |
40 mm |
130 g |

Attention: When working with addition-curing silicone rubbers, make sure that clean and dry containers are used. The surface of the object to be moulded should also be as dry and free of impurities as possible. Certain substances can prevent or slow down the curing of addition-curing silicone. These include condensation-curing silicones, organic rubbers, plasticizers, amines, heavy metals and sulphur-containing kneading compounds. At the contact surfaces between addition-curing silicone and the substances mentioned, vulcanization problems then occur, which render the mould and often also the model unusable. In case of doubt it is strongly recommended to check the material compatibility in a small preliminary test.
